PRESS RELEASE
A Merry Regiment Of Women
Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th July at 7.30pm
A mad and merry tribute the great Bard William Shakespeare on his 400th anniversary.
Lady Macbeth calls five of Shakespeare’s most well-known female characters to arms in order to voice their opinions about quality of their roles in his plays. However, just as Shakespeare himself intended, events do not go according to plan, as three of his popular male characters arrive to shake things up.
A Merry Regiment of Women is theatre and TV actor Terry Perkins’ directorial debut, in which he also stars as Petruchio. He says, “When I was asked if I would direct A Merry Regiment of Women, and it being the first play I have directed for an audience, of course I was eager to get started. I quickly met the cast and we’ve had great fun with this light-hearted but I think relevant take on Shakespeare’s loveable and sometimes odious characters.”
A Merry Regiment of Women is a hilarious, witty and contemporary tribute to Shakespeare and his most established characters.
